The biggest challenge with software is rarely the software

Most people think of features first when it comes to software. I think first about the people who will eventually work with it.

Because in client conversations, the question is rarely: „Can the software do that?“

Much more often I hear:
What does this mean for our employees?
How complex will the implementation be?

That’s why good software doesn’t just solve technical tasks.

It gives people the confidence to embrace change.

That’s exactly why I rarely talk about features first. I want to first understand what matters to the people involved.

What’s your experience? In a software project, is the technology the bigger challenge – or the change?
